Future institutes

Academics

NIPER S.A.S. Nagar, Research Blocks
NIPER offers Masters and Doctoral programs in various fields of the pharmaceutical sciences.

System of Studies

The course duration of Masters programs is four semesters, while the doctoral programs typically take six to ten semesters depending on the subject area of research. A scholar has to take a minimum number of credits offered from various departments depending on the program and branch of study. The Research, its presentation, and defense carry their own credits reflected in the final Cumulative Graded Point Average (CGPA).

Admissions

Every year in June and July NIPER conducts national level entrance examinations for admissions to its M.S.(Pharm)/M.Tech/M.Pharm., MBA(Pharm.) and PhD programs. Candidates interested in MBA (Pharmaceutical Management) and the doctoral programs are further screened by personal interview. The candidates are required to have qualified the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) or now Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test (GPAT) in a suitable subject area, although exceptions are allowed for some applicants/programs. Now GATE in Pharmacy discipline has been replaced by GPAT and pharmacy graduate has to qualify the GPAT. The entrance examination is conducted at Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chandigarh, New Delhi, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur and Pune. Depending on the rank secured in the entrance examination and number of seats offered in a department, the applicants get to opt for their choice in a counseling session. NIPER also has reservation for SC, ST, Physically Handicapped and Kashmiri Migrant candidates. Exam for doctoral program is subject and/or department specific. For doctoral studies, normally the PI has sufficient funding to support the student, but in its absence a fellowship via the National Eligibility Test conducted by the University Grants Commission or such student support schemes makes the applicant's case strong.

Organization

NIPER functions under the Union ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers. The president of the Republic of India is the visitor of the institute. Its policy architecture is framed and reviewed by a board of governors which includes eminent academicians, members of the parliament and entrepreneurs. The institute is represented by a director, who is also the chief academic and executive officer.

The School of Planning and Architecture, Vijayawada (SPA Vijayawada) is a higher education institute in Vijayawada, India, specializing education and research in the field of urban planning and architecture. It is one of the three School of Planning and Architecture (SPAs) established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India in 2008 as an autonomous institute and a fully Centrally Funded Technical Institution (CFTI).

    History

The roots of the institute are with a report made by the Institute of Town Planners, India (ITPI), on the request of the Ministry of Human Resource Development regarding the establishment of more SPAs, in addition to the SPA Delhi, established 1959. Based on this report, the decision was made to establish two schools, in Bhopal and Vijayawada.[1] On 7 July 2008, SPA Vijayawada was established as an autonomous Centrally Funded Technical Institution (CFTI).

    Campus

Initially, the school was operated out of a temporary campus in Acharya Nagarjuna University in Guntur till 2011, before moving to its current campus. In 2011, the foundation stone of the Vijayawada campus was laid by Daggubati Purandeswari, Minister of State for Human Resource Development. The present campus is located at Nidamanuru, on National Highway 5, close to the Vijayawada Airport.[3] Expansion plans include building more hostels to accommodate the growing number of post graduate students, a state-of-the-art sports complex and residential quarters for doctoral students.
The Government of Andhra Pradesh is in the process of allotting nearly 60 acres of land, spread over two locations in and around Vijayawada, for the development of the school. Of this, the first 7.2 acres was handed over on February 22, 2010. In January 2012, design for the new campus was adopted as part of an all-India competition and it is proposed to develop it as an eco-friendly campus with state-of-the-art facilities. The proposed campus will comprise academic, co-curricular and residential facilities.

    Governance

The school is being run under supervision and guidance of a board of governors. The board comprises members from Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of Higher Education, Andhra Pradesh Government, two representatives of the Government of India from the fields of architecture and planning, representative of the Institute of Town Planners, Indian Institute of Architects, University Grants Commission, School of Planning and Architecture, Delhi and All India Council for Technical Education.[5]

    Academics

The Institute conducts educational programmes leading to the degree of Bachelor of Architecture (B. Arch.), Bachelor of Planning (B. Plng.) Master of Architecture (M. Arch.), Master of Planning (M. Plan) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD.) in the following areas:
    Degree Specialization
Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) Architectural design and Building construction.[6]
Bachelor of Planning (B.Plng) Settlement design, developmental economics, photogrammtery and Remote Sensing, rural development, utilities and services planning, project planning, operations research, real estate valuation, disaster management, transport planning, housing, infrastructure planning, land use zoning and environmental monitoring.
Master of Architecture (M. Arch) Sustainable Architecture.
Master of Planning (M. Plng) Environmental Planning and Management
Master of Planning (M. Plan) Urban and Regional Planning
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD.) All Architecture and Planning disciplines, interdisciplinary areas, humanities and social sciences.
